Some say the kitchen is the heart of the home and it’s often no different at an Early Learning Centre!
We embrace the diverse cultural needs of our local community and plan our menus seasonally. We cater for a range of dietary needs including vegetarian, any allergy need and cultural beliefs.
Meet Nicole – Clyde North Tuckers Road’s new cook who will be creating all that is yummy and nutritious for children at our ELC.
How long have you been a cook for?
I have been cooking since I was 14 and have worked in café’s, restaurants, school canteens and at child care
Why did you want to be the new cook for Clyde North Tuckers Road?
I was keen to work in a brand new
What are you looking forward to most about starting at our ELC?
Meeting all our new families and children and filling their tummies with yummy food.
Why is healthy eating so important for young children?
Healthy eating assists in developing their brains and teaches them about making good choices when eating.
How do you encourage healthy eating in children?
Trying food is the key, so I like to make all the meals interesting,
Any top tips for our families to get their children to eat more vegetables?
Eating veggies raw is a great way to start. Make it fun by creating nibble platters to share! This shows children you are eating vegetables too, which is very important. Also, adding veggies to your pasta sauces is a sneaky way to get children to eat them.
