Childcare is a big step for families and understanding what financial support is available can help ease the transition into early learning.
Below is useful information about the Child Care Subsidy for first time parents.
What is CCS?
The new Child Care Subsidy was introduced in July this year by the Federal Government. The Child Care Subsidy (CCS) replaced the Child Care Rebate (CCR) and Child Care Benefit (CCB).
The CCS helps eligible families to access approved and registered child care, by subsidising some of the cost. This subsidy could be as high as 85% of the cost of child care.
How is the CCS calculated?
The CCS is calculated by a number of factors such as:
- Activity Level – the amount of recognised activities you complete in a fortnight such as paid work, study, volunteering.
- Combined Family Income – how much your family earns each year.
- Service Type and Hourly Rates – the type of service you are using such as long day care or outside school hours care.
